- Why should I have my pet professionally groomed?
While many pet owners choose to take on the time commitment and responsibility to groom their pets themselves, there are a few good reasons to have the job done by a professional groomer.
They have the right tools.
Professional groomers are able to choose from a wide range of grooming tools in their arsenal, from specialty skin products to clippers, adjustable grooming tables and bathtubs designed especially for pets. They also keep numerous specialty shampoos on hand for cats and dogs with fleas and ticks, skin irritations and allergies, and even for dogs that have been sprayed by skunks.
They have plenty of experience handling dogs and cats.
Professional groomers are experienced and trained in handling senior animals, those with behavioral issues and more. A professional groomer also knows how to keep your cat or dog safe during grooming in our New Iberia facility.
They take care of the unsavory tasks.
You love your pet. But when it comes to cleaning and grooming them, some tasks are far from pleasant. From shampooing dogs that have jumped in mud or gotten skunked, to removing ticks and fleas and cleaning anal glands, a professional groomer can do the yucky stuff with minimum fuss — so you don't have to.
- How often should I have my pet groomed?
The proper frequency of grooming sessions for your pet depends on his or her coat type, hair length and breed. In most cases, your pet should come in for a grooming session about once a month.
- How long does a grooming session take?
The duration of a grooming session will depend on your pet's size, coat length and type. The types of services required to groom them will also factor into the time spent. That said, Mrs. Michelle will call/text you as soon as your pet is ready.
- How much does grooming cost?
The cost of a grooming session will vary depending on your pet's size and breed, and the type of coat they have. Whether your pet has any significant behavioral issues may also impact the cost. For a better cost estimate, please contact us for an estimate.
- What are the health benefits of professional grooming?
To ensure your pet stays clean and healthy, grooming sessions are a necessity. A professional groomer can remove all that unshed fur that's stuck to your dog's coat, along with ticks, fleas and mats. A groomer can also be the first line of defense to detect other potential health conditions, which may be prevented or halted.
Mats cause knots in your pet's hair, and this can lead to discomfort and pain — something every pet owner strives to prevent. A good brushing will also make your dog's coat shine. Their nails will be trimmed to prevent curling and the invasion of germs.
It's critical that skin infections or problems are detected early, and a groomer will know what to look for. They will be able to find infections, rashes, lesions, new lumps or inflammations that even the most diligent owner may miss. The groomer may also catch an underlying issue and the sooner these are found, the sooner they can be treated.
- How do your groomers handle fearful or aggressive pets?
Our groomers are experienced in handling anxious, aggravated and stressed animals. In some cases, animals may be especially aggressive or fearful and our groomer may recommend sedation during the session. However, most of the time our groomer can manage the animal with these steps:
• A quiet, peaceful environment
• Offering treats
• Frequent breaks
• Opening a window or playing music
• Asking a dog to do something it knows (like 'sit' or 'shake')
Pet Bathing Services
We have bathing services available every day. These include shampooing, ear cleaning, nail trim and anal gland extraction, in addition to blow drying and brushing.
We also use Fresh n' Clean to keep your cat or dog smelling good for 2 weeks!
Benefits of Bathing
Regular bathing sessions have several sanitary and dermatological benefits for both cats and dogs. For example, bathing:
- Removes dirt & odor for cleaner skin and coat
- Softens and conditions coat
- Reduces shedding
- Helps treat and reduce symptoms of any allergies & skin conditions
- Helps us monitor your pet's health
